John 14:15-31 – A Lasting Legacy

Introduction

 

 

When God draws near, by His Spirit, then we have a special friend (14:15-17)

 

              An advocate

 

 

              A helper

 

 

When God draws near, by His Spirit, then we have a secret life (14:18-19)

 

 

 

 

When God draws near, by His Spirit, then we have a sacred union (14:20-24)

 

 

 

 

When God draws near, by His Spirit, then we have the supreme teacher (14:25-26)

 

 

 

 

When God draws near, by His Spirit, then we have a secure peace (14:27)

1) How does knowing that you have the Holy Spirit living within you shape how you view yourself today?

2) What areas of your life are you still trying to navigate using your own wisdom instead of the Spirit’s guidance?

3) Do you truly believe that the Spirit gives you a quality of life that is better than any earthly inheritance? Why or why not?

4) How can the reality of your ‘secret life’ in the Spirit influence how you deal with struggles, loneliness, or feeling unseen?

5a) Have you been living like someone adopted into God’s family, or more like a spiritual orphan? 5b) What would it look like to embrace the full privileges of being a child of God?

6a) How has the Holy Spirit taught or corrected you recently? 6b) What have you done with that truth?

7) In what ways can the peace Jesus offers through the Spirit guard your heart and mind in your current situation?

8a) Are you more envious of worldly wealth and influence, or do you find joy in the legacy Jesus has left you through the Holy Spirit? 8b) Where does your heart lean—and how can you realign it if needed?
